Amended Rules

 Burleson County 

2021 T-Ball Amended Rules


General Rules: 

1)  Only 5 players may play on the infield and all the rest of the players should be outfield, with a max of 5, at least 5 feet from the infield dirt.  

2)  Free substitution.

3) The field needs to have two circles for the pitcher, no lines. 

4)  Players are encouraged to make a play and get an out. If the ball is hit to the outfield, past the dirt, then the runner may advance to second. If the ball is hit infield and does not go past the first then the runner must stop at first. 

5)  No chasing runners.  Strongly encourage making defensive outs. 

6) Only safety balls shall be used in this league by all players. 

7) The pitcher must wear a helmet for safety.

8) The pitcher is the only one who may stop the play once in the circle. 

9) Each team shall bat their lineup. 

10) Once a team has 3 outs all base runners need to be removed and the batting team may continue batting till the end of their line-up. 

11) Games will have a 1 hour time limit. No new inning may begin after 50 minutes from the start of the game. 

12) Batter get 5 swings. If batter fouls 5th pitch, he/she continues to bat until either hitting the ball fair, or striking out.

13) The ball must travel 3 feet from home plate to be considered a live ball. On the 5th swing if the ball does not travel 3 feet the batter is out. 

14) Defensive positions must be rotated each inning to allow players an opportunity to get experience in all positions. 

15) Batting line-up should change each game. Every player needs to have an opportunity to play all positions throughout the season.

2021 Amended Machine Pitch Rules

Batting:

  1. Each batter shall have up to five pitches.

  2. 3 strikes and batter is out.

  3. If batter misses 5th pitch, batter is out.

  4. If batter fouls 5th pitch, continues to bat until either hitting the ball fair, or striking out.


Pitching: 

  1. Pitcher must be inside the white circle until the ball leaves the machine

  2. Play is dead once the pitcher is in control of the ball and inside the white circle. 

  3. Regarding rule #2, if a runner is advancing and is half way or more to next base (umpires call), he may continue to that base at the risk of being thrown out.

  4. Regarding rule #2, if a runner is advancing and is less than half way to next base, he must return to previous base. This is the umpire’s call.

  5. No player must go past the midway point prior to the ball leaving the machine. 

  6. The machine should not be set to more than 40mph. 


Scoring runs:

  1. There is a limit of 4 runs per inning.  Once the offensive team scores the 4th run in their turn at bat, the half inning is immediately over and no other runs score.

  2. If a team is ahead by 10 runs after 4 innings, the game is called.

  3. If either team is ahead by 8 runs by the end of the 5th inning the game is called. 

  4. The 6th inning is an open inning, there is no run rule. 


Time limit: 

Total game time may not exceed 1:45 minutes. If an inning has started prior to the 1:45 minute time limit that inning must be completed. Once the 1:45 time has been reached a new inning can’t be started. 


Games that have not started within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time will be canceled. Canceled games will need to be rescheduled, however games canceled due to insufficient number of players by either team will be considered a forfeit for that team. The 1:45 minute time limit begins when the umpire states its game time. 


Tie Games: 

If time reaches 1:45 minutes and the game is tied, the game will end in a tie. 


Borrowed Players

Teams can borrow a player in the event of an injury or absence to complete scheduled games.  The team with less than 9 players at the start of a game will borrow a player from the opposing team.  The borrowed player will only play outfield.  The borrowed player can be switched every inning. 


Keep One Foot in the Batter’s Box

Players must keep one foot in the batter’s box at all times, barring the eight exceptions provided in the Little League Rule book.

  2. There is a limit of 4 runs per inning.  Once the offensive team scores the 4th run in their turn at bat, the half inning is immediately over and no other runs score.

  3. If a team is ahead by 10 runs after 4 innings, the game is called.

  4. The 6th inning is an open inning, there is no run rule. 


Time limit:

Third Strike Rule- If first base is unoccupied on the third strike and the ball is dropped by the catcher then the batter may advance to first base. If there are two outs and the ball is dropped by the catcher then the runners may advance. (Regular Strike Three Baseball rules)

2021 Pitch Count Regulations



9-10 Year Olds – Minor Division 75 pitches per day

11-12 Year Olds – Major Division 85 pitches per day

13-14 Year Olds – Junior Division 95 pitches per day



  • If a player pitches 66 or more pitches in a day, four (4) calendar days of rest must be observed.

  • If a player pitches 51-65 pitches in a day, three (3) calendar days of rest must be observed.

  • If a player pitches 36-50 pitches in a day, two (2) calendar day of rest must be observed.

  • If a player pitches 21-35 pitches in a day, one (1) calendar days of rest must be observed.

  • If a player pitches 1-20 pitches in a day, no (0) calendar days of rest must be observed.



*** A pitcher who delivers 41 or more pitches in a game CANNOT play the position of catcher for the remainder of that day.
